Omar Abdullah and Ravinder Raina
In the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party's state president, Ravinder Raina, is facing a tough battle in the Nowshera constituency.
After five rounds of counting, Raina has secured 9,543 votes but is trailing behind Surinder Kumar Choudhary of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC), who has taken a strong lead with 20,955 votes.
Meanwhile, the Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate, Manohar Singh, has only managed to get 1,076 votes, trailing far behind.
In Budgam, after six rounds, Abdullah is leading with 16,243 votes, ahead of PDP's Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, who has secured 8,776 votes, giving Abdullah a strong lead of 7,467 votes. Other candidates, including independents, are significantly trailing.
In Ganderbal, Abdullah has maintained a strong lead with 10,764 votes after five rounds, ahead of PDP’s Bashir Ahmad Mir by 4,565 votes.
The remaining candidates, including independents, are far behind in vote counts. The contest in both constituencies is shaping up as a direct battle between NC and PDP, with Abdullah holding a comfortable lead.
