After coming out on bail in a land scam case, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Chairman Hemant Soren is set to become Jharkhand Chief Minister again.
Champai Soren was sworn in as the CM in February after Hemant Soren had resigned before his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on 31 January under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
However, after getting bail from the Jharkhand High Court. Hemant Soren came out of jail after nearly five months on 28 June and held a meeting of INDI Alliance MLAs on Wednesday (3 July).
Champai Soren himself proposed Hemant Soren's name for the CM post, which was accepted unanimously. This means Hemant Soren will be taking oath as the Jharkhand CM for the third time.
The development comes a few months ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. However, INDI Alliance is yet to make an official announcement in this regard.
Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan will be back in Ranchi by evening, after which Hemant Soren is expected to meet him for government formation.
