In the aftermath of the tragic murder of Neha, the daughter of a Congress Corporator and a student at Hubbali's BVB college, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that she was killed for personal reasons.
He said, "The law and order situation is very good in Karnataka, It is our duty to maintain law and order and we are doing it."
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar denounced the alleged attempts by the BJP to politicize the incident.
The accused, identified as Fayaz, was apprehended after CCTV footage captured him entering the college premises armed with a knife.
About the possibility of religious angle in the murder case, he said, “Maybe he stabbed her because she was to marry someone else, but I don't know the details yet. But since it was a mutual relationship, it doesn't seem to be a case of love jihad,” Parameshwara said.
Meanwhile, Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar said, "FIR has been registered in this case and the accused was also secured within an hour. He has been sent to judicial custody. It is a very serious case and we are investigating. In the due course of the investigation, everything will come to light..."
