News Brief
Ajeet Bharti
After a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against journalist Ajeet Bharti in Bengaluru, he said that three young men claiming to be Karnataka Police came to his house on Thursday (20 June) afternoon.
"They said that they have come to deliver a notice. I asked, did you inform Noida Police? They asked, which is the local police station? I immediately informed the local police officer," Bharti posted on X.
He said that soon two vehicles of Uttar Pradesh Police arrived and talked to the young men who came from Bengaluru and later the UP Police took them along.
This comes after the Karnataka Congress legal cell filed an FIR last week against Bharti for saying that Rahul Gandhi claimed to remove the Ram Mandir and bring back Babri.
Bharti thanked the local police for their prompt assistance. In another post, he said, "Noida Police swung into action as soon as I informed them," while questioning Karnataka Police.
Quoting Abhijit Iyer-Mitra's post claiming "looks like Karnataka Police are trying to carry out an ILLEGAL arrest," Bharti said, "The work that could have been done by an e-mail, three cops were sent to do that."
"Noida Police sent as many as five officers and some constables to take them away. Thank you UP Police, Yogi Adityanath and Noida Police," Bharti added.
