Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan Addresses Event In Idduki Amid CPM Youth Wing's Hartal, Says Not Scared Of Protests And Blockades

In the face of widespread protests orchestrated by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Students' Federation of India (SFI), and Youth Front (M), Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan inaugurated the Karunya Family Welfare Scheme of Kerala Vaypari Vayasai Ekopana Samithi in Thodupuzha.

As reported by Onmanorama, The governor, undeterred by the demonstrations, emphasised the importance of using the "force of argument" rather than the "argument of force" in public discourse.

Speaking at the traders' event, Governor Khan shared his experiences, stating that he resigned from the Union Cabinet at the age of 35 and faced multiple attempts on his life between 1985 and 1990.

He also stressed that the use of "threat and force" goes against the principles of democracy.

Governor Khan reiterated his commitment to constitutional obligations and emphasised that his duties prioritise the rule of law and the interests of the common people in Kerala.

Despite facing protests during his visit, the governor affirmed his readiness to walk through the roads of Idukki if necessary.

Earlier, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had called for a district-wide hartal against the governor, but the party denied plans to block his visit.

Approximately 500 police personnel were deployed in Thodupuzha during Governor Khan's visit, ensuring security amid the protests.

The governor, after inaugurating the event, proceeded to Thodupuzha Guest House, where some protestors attempted to block his convoy.
