'Khalistan Zindabad' slogans were raised on the Golden Temple premises in Amritsar, Punjab on the 40th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, where Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was killed in a gunfight.

In the videos posted by ANI, members of the Sikh community can be seen raising pro-Khalistan slogans with the posters of Bhindranwale, who died on 6 June 1984 at the age of 37.

One of the posters read, "We remember every ash of Sikh reference library which was looted and set on fire during army operation in Darbar Sahib. #NeverForget1984 #SikhGenocide."

Notably, former Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) MP from Sangrur, Simranjit Singh Mann was also seen among the people raising slogans and displaying posters of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale on Thursday (6 June).

He had won the by-polls in 2022 after Bhagwant Mann left his Lok Sabha seat to become the Chief Minister of Punjab. However, Simranjit came third this time behind AAP and Congress.
