Mumbai Coastal Road Update: 3.5-KM Northbound Stretch Connecting Haji Ali To Worli Expected To Open This Week

The 3.5-km northbound stretch of Mumbai’s Coastal Road, connecting Haji Ali to Worli, is expected to open for vehicular traffic this week, according to a report from The Indian Express.

“The Coastal Road segment between Haji Ali and Worli will be opened within a day or two,” Bhushan Gagrani, the Municipal Commissioner stated.

The northbound carriageway of the Dharmveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road, stretching from Marine Drive to Haji Ali, was inaugurated on 10 June.

However, vehicular movement was allowed only on a 6.5-km stretch between Marine Drive and Worli.

Currently, this southbound lane accommodates vehicles traveling between Worli and Marine Drive.

The final phase, which will link the coastal road to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL), is projected to be completed by October.

This connection will be established via a bow-string bridge, for which the girders have already been launched.

Officially named the Dharamveer Swaraj Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Mumbai Coastal Road, the Rs 13,983-crore high-speed corridor built by the BMC is expected to reduce travel time between Worli and Marine Drive to under 10 minutes, a journey that usually takes around 45 minutes during peak hours.
