The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Hazaribagh-based journalist for helping the principal and vice-principal of a Jharkhand school, whom the agency arrested a day earlier in connection with its probe into NEET irregularities.

The journalist, reportedly identified as Mohd Jamaludin who works with a prominent Hindi newspaper, was arrested after the CBI received crucial technical evidence against him.

Earlier on Friday (28 June), the CBI had arrested Ehsanul Haque, the principal of Oasis school, and Imtiaz Alam, vice-principal and Hazaribagh district coordinator for NEET-UG designated by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The two accused were arrested in connection with an alleged paper leak of this year’s National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate).

Four examinees are among 13 accused in the case, besides five more arrests made later.

The CBI began probe after the Education Ministry handed over the matter of alleged irregularities in this year’s NEET (UG) to the central agency on 22 June for “a comprehensive investigation”.

The central agency also conducted search operations across seven locations in Gujarat, spanning districts including Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Godhra.
