News Brief
Google Bard
Google has made a significant update to Bard to make it a formidable competitor to ChatGPT. The latest update introduces exciting features, including multilingual support in 40 languages, with a specific focus on meeting the diverse linguistic needs of users in India.
Bard now has fluent communication capabilities in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, and Urdu. Additionally, Google has expanded the availability of Bard to more regions, such as Brazil and across Europe, thereby expanding its user base.
One of the standout features of Bard's update is its ability to understand image prompts. Google has taken a unique approach by offering this image understanding capability for free, although currently limited to the English language. This update enhances Bard's capabilities and delivers a more immersive and interactive chatbot experience for users.
By integrating Google's powerful AI technology, currently utilized in Google Lens, into Bard, the AI chatbot gains the ability to understand and analyze image prompts. Users will now find a camera icon on Bard's search bar, enabling them to upload images for analysis.
The image prompt feature adds a new dimension to Bard's capabilities. For example, users can upload an image containing food ingredients and ask Bard to analyze it, providing recipe suggestions based on the ingredients.
Furthermore, Bard can offer search results accompanied by relevant photos. This enhancement empowers users to leverage visual information for more accurate and context-specific responses from Bard.
By clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of Bard's reply, users can access five different response options: simple, long, short, professional, or casual.
This feature, currently available in English, grants users more control over the conversational style and tone of the AI chatbot. Google plans to expand this functionality to support additional languages in the future.
Moreover, Google Bard now allows users to pin threads, making it more convenient to access and reference conversations with the AI chatbot. This feature is particularly useful for users who want to keep important conversations easily accessible. Users can pin specific threads, rename them, and quickly resume recent conversations from the sidebar.
Additionally, Google has simplified the process of sharing Bard chats with others, catering to the needs of educational customers and beyond. Users can now create chat conversations with Bard resembling frequently asked questions (FAQs).
These curated chats can be shared with peers or others who can benefit from the information, facilitating seamless and efficient knowledge-sharing. These additions further enhance the versatility and collaborative potential of Google Bard.
