NIA Intensifies Crackdown On PFI With Raids In Delhi, Maharashtra And Tamil Nadu Among Other States

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently conducting raids at various locations in Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and other states, as reported by The Hindu.

These raids are focused on the premises of the banned organisation Popular Front of India (PFI).

According to official sources, the NIA has been carrying out these raids in Maharashtra since early this morning (11 October).

One of the locations being searched is the residence of Abdul Wahid Sheikh in Mumbai's Vikhroli area.

Notably, Abdul Wahid Sheikh was previously acquitted in the 7/11 Mumbai train blasts case.

In addition to the Mumbai searches, the NIA is conducting operations in multiple areas in Madurai related to the PFI case.

Prior to these recent actions, in September, the Enforcement Directorate had carried out raids on the residences of former PFI workers in four districts of Kerala: Thrissur, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Wayanad.

Additionally, in August, the NIA conducted raids on the residences of several PFI operatives in Malappuram.

These targeted locations included the homes of individuals associated with the banned PFI, such as Thayyil Hamza in Vengara, Kalathiparambil Yahuti in Tirur, Haneefa in Tanur, and Rangattur Padikkaparambil Jaffer.

Following the NIA's attachment of the Green Valley Academy in Manjeri in August, the agency proceeded with further searches.

The Green Valley Academy was recognised as one of the largest and oldest arms and physical training centres associated with the PFI.
