News Brief
Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren.
After former Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Jitan Ram Manjhi welcomed former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren into the "NDA (National Democratic Alliance) family", Babulal Marandi clarified that no such talks have happened with Soren.
In a long post on social media yesterday (18 August), Soren said that he felt humiliated when he was asked to step down by Hemant Soren after the latter came out from jail and that he had "three options" left.
"One is to retire from politics. The second is to form a new organisation. The third is to join a partner," Champai Soren's post sparked speculations of him joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Calling Soren "a seasoned politician" who was active in separate Jharkhand movement, Marandi said, "He will himself decide his own path," and sympathised with his pain on being removed from the CM post.
"Champai Soren has been a revolutionary... His pain is visible through his post. He seems sad and broken from the inside... His pain is obvious. He became a CM for some days and then he was removed," Marandi said.
"This (Soren's post) is just an expression of his pain... And it shows that he was not an independent CM, he had to obey instructions from the jail," Jharkhand BJP president added.
