Ashok Srivastav protesting against attack on India Today journalist in US
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday (19 September) slammed the Congress ecosystem over the alleged attack on senior journalist and DD News anchor Ashok Shrivastav.
"Last night, senior journalist Ashok Shrivasta was the target of a deadly attack. As he was leaving his office around midnight, an SUV rammed into his car from behind," journalist Vikas Bhadoria wrote on X on Thursday.
Bhadoria added that the attacks comes a day after Srivastava had protested against the mistreatment and assault of India Today journalist Rohit Sharma in the US by Congress workers.
He added that the protest by Shrivastav had rattled the entire ecosystem.
"But does raising a voice in protest warrant someone's life being at risk?," he asked.
"Just yesterday, senior journalist of DD News Ashok Srivastava had protested against the misbehavior and attack on India Today journalist Rohit Sharma in America. The entire eco-system of 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan' was infuriated by this protest," he said.
"Last night itself, Ashok Shrivastav was attacked. When he was leaving his office at midnight, his car was hit hard from behind by an SUV. The culprit will not be spared, but an attack on the lives of those who protest? Congress should come out of its emergency mentality. This country is not their property and journalists are not their slaves," he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Shrivastav and other journalists had held a protest in front of Press Club of India against the attack on India Today journalist by Rahul Gandhi's advance team in US.
The protesting journalists also met Union I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and submitted a memorandum, seeking action over the assault on the India Today journalist.
