Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (3 July) asked all Ministries to expedite completion of ongoing projects so that these can be ready for inauguration by 26 January 2024.

"A fruitful meeting with the Council of Ministers, where we exchanged views on diverse policy related issues,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted after the meeting which was held at the newly built International Convention Centre at the Pragati Maidan, which will host the G20 summit in September.

The Prime Minister (PM) also asked his colleagues to focus on “Vision-2047”.

The meeting focused mostly on performance of different ministries, particularly in the infrastructure sector, for which presentations were also made. The meeting was held amid high speculations about possible changes in the Union Cabinet.

Three presentations were made at the meeting and these were on the capital expenditure (capex), PM’s recent visit to US and Egypt and Vision-2047 for the infrastructure sector.

The Finance Ministry, sources said, in its presentation gave details of how the budgetary provision is made and how it tracks the capital expenditure. The government has allocated Rs 10 lakh crore for capex this year and so far Telecom, Road and Railway Ministries have made good progress.

For the Vision-2047 presentation on infrastructure sector, the ministries projected the required finance to scale up the projects. The infrastructure ministries have identified projects that are ready for inauguration or for laying foundation stone in the next 7-8 months.

Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi said, "Vision-2047, development activities, plan about further development of the country and also Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the US and Egypt were discussed during the meeting."
