Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday (8 February) claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "misleading" people by identifying himself as an OBC.
Rahul Gandhi, while speaking during the concluding day of his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Odisha, said PM Modi "was born in a family that belonged to the general caste".
"Modi ji has been misleading the people by saying that he is an OBC. He was born in a family of the Teli caste, which was included in the OBC list during the BJP government's tenure in Gujarat in 2000. Therefore, Modi ji is not an OBC by birth," the Congress MP claimed.
The Congress leader further alleged that the prime minister does not shake hands with OBCs, but "hugs billionaires".
He further said that PM Modi is not going to do a caste census.
While Congress leaders keep counting the number of OBCs in the government, they fail to see the biggest OBC, PM Modi said referring to himself.
Meanwhile, Rahul's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is scheduled to enter Chhattisgarh on Thursday from neighbouring Odisha.
It will be Gandhi's first visit to Chhattisgarh after the November 2023 Assembly elections wherein his party was ousted from power in the state.
After a two-day break, the yatra, which started from Manipur on 14 January, will pass through the Raigarh, Sakti and Korba districts on 11 February.
