By September 2025, North Western Railway (NWR) plans to renovate Gandhinagar (Jaipur) Station in Rajasthan with world-class facilities at a cost of Rs 177.45 crore.
Gandhinagar (Jaipur) Railway Station is located in the Bajaj Nagar region of Jaipur and mostly serves the city's southern areas. This station serves as a stopover for many trains travelling to and from Delhi. This is India's first railway station run entirely by women.
Captain Shashi Kiran, NWR chief public relations officer (CPRO), stated on Monday (12 December) that two additional structures are proposed to be built at the current Gandhinagar Jaipur stations as part of the development.
They would be green buildings, with reduced energy consumption during construction, operation and maintenance, as well as renewable energy resources such as waste processing and rain water gathering.
“The main building will be ground floor plus two. The main entry station building will have various facilities like departure lobby, vestibule, security check area with baggage scanner, help desk area, departure hall, toilets, RPF room, head TC room. Platform one will have an unreserved waiting room, executive waiting room, retail stalls, toilets, baby food room and arrival hall for passengers,” said Kiran, reports Times Of India.
The NWR Zone had invited bids in May this year for upgradation of Gandhinagar (Jaipur) Railway Station through engineering, procurement and construction basis.
Brahmaputra Infrastructure Limited in a joint venture with JCC Infra Projects secured an order worth Rs 177.45 crore in August to upgrade the Gandhinagar Railway Station.
