Three Indian literary masterpieces -- Ramcharitmanas, Panchatantra, and Sahṛdayāloka-Locana -- have been included in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Asia-Pacific Regional Register.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the inclusion highlights the significance of preserving and celebrating diverse narratives and artistic expressions that shape our shared humanity.

Ramcharitmanas written by Goswami Tulasidas is written in Awadhi and depicts the life of Lord Ram. Panchatantra is written by Pandit Vishnu Sharma and Sahṛdayāloka-Locana by Acharya Anandvardhan.

Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) is said to have ensured the addition of these literary works to the UNESCO's register.

The decision on the inclusion was taken at 10th meeting of the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific (MOWCAP), held in Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia.
