Rs 500 Crore For Delhi Metro In Kejriwal Government's Budget, Atishi Says Daily Commuters Surged 2.5 Times In 10 Years

In its 2024-25 Budget, the Delhi government has earmarked Rs 500 crore for the Delhi Metro, citing a significant increase in daily commuters from 24 lakh in 2014 to over 60 lakh presently according to a report from The Economic Times.

Finance Minister Atishi has emphasised the government's commitment to providing quality public transportation, noting that under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's leadership, the metro network has expanded from 193 kilometres with 143 stations in March 2015 to 393 kilometres with 288 stations today.

Atishi stated, "In this financial year, I propose an outlay of Rs 500 crore for Delhi Metro."

The metro system, operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, is the largest and busiest rapid transit system in India, connecting the national capital region with its satellite cities.
