A recent extensive pre-election survey conducted by Tamil Nadu's popular TV channel, Puthiyathalaimurai, has projected that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could secure four to six seats in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, as per a report by The News Minute.
The survey suggests that the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is likely to secure 29-31 seats, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), which recently severed ties with the BJP, may win four to six seats.
Tamil Nadu has a total of 39 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the DMK having won 38 seats in the 2019 elections, conceding only Theni to the AIADMK's O P Raveendranath.
The survey, conducted by the SRM group-owned channel, breaks down the constituencies into five zones: South, West, Central, North and Chennai.
It predicts that the BJP could win one seat each in the North zone and Chennai, along with one to two seats in both the South and West zones.
On the other hand, the AIADMK is likely to win a maximum of one seat in the South and Central zones, and one to two seats in both the West and North zones.
According to the survey, the BJP's vote share is anticipated to significantly increase to 18.48 per cent from the 3.71 per cent it garnered in 2019.
The DMK's vote share, however, is expected to decline from the 53.32 per cent it received in 2019 to 38.33 per cent.
Meanwhile, the AIADMK is projected to secure a 17.26 per cent vote share, which is close to the 18.72 per cent it received in 2019.
