Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin meets slain BSP leader's wife
One of the accused in Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Tamil Nadu president K Armstrong's murder was killed in police firing on Sunday (14 July) as he tried to escape.
Thiruvengadam was a history-sheeter, involved in three murders. He was taken by a police team to a hideout to help in recovering the weapon of crime, The Hindu reported.
However, Thiruvengadam attacked the police team and tried to escape. In response, the police fired on him, killing him on the spot. His body was then taken to the Government Stanley Hospital for post-mortem.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin then visited the residence of the slain BSP leader on 9 July and expressed sympathies to his wife Porkodi and assured punishment for the perpetrators.
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government transferred the city police commissioner, Sandeep Rai Rathore and appointed ADGP Law and Order A Arun in his place.
