Chief Minister MK Stalin has written a letter to President Droupadi Murmu complaining about Governor RN Ravi. He said that Governor Ravi’s activities are against the Constitution and the interests of the people of Tamil Nadu.

Among the issues he referred to were Governor Ravi’s recent dismissal of Senthil Balaji without the advice of the council of ministers, giving assent to Bills passed by the Assembly, granting sanction to prosecute ministers of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) accused of corruption and his refusal to read out parts of his speech to the Assembly.

Further, he wrote that by criticising the Dravidian model, Governor Ravi was acting like a political and ideological opponent of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government.

He concluded his letter by saying that he felt that Governor Ravi was not fit for the position and he is leaving it to the President to take a call on him continuing as the Governor of the state.

The letter was written on a day when Governor Ravi met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

This is not the first time that Chief Minister Stalin has written to the President about Governor Ravi.

In January 2023, a few days after a row over his remarks on 'Tamizhagam', a delegation of DMK MPs submitted a memorandum to President Murmu on behalf of Chief Minister Stalin.

Calling it a 'long cry note', Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai said, "Happen to read the long cry note written by Corrupt DMK Govt’s Chief Minister Thiru @mkstalin to our Hon President of India complaining about the functioning of the Governor.

"Thiru @mkstalin seems to have forgotten that the Hon Governor is fulfilling the wants of his while he was the leader of the opposition.

"Thiru @mkstalin complained while in opposition that the Governor is reading out a prepared statement in the assembly and asked the Governor to sack a minister on corruption charges but has problems with these today.

"Corrupt DMK Govt’s CM Thiru @mkstalin complains of Governor disrupting the functioning of the elected government.

Can't understand what Thiru @mkstalin is complaining about when the people of the State have a lot to complain about his Governance. Thiru @mkstalin & the Corrupt DMK Govt is an acting puppet for Sand smugglers & Money launderers and has turned the state into one lawless jungle just like his friend in West Bengal. Stop complaining & start delivering, Thiru @mkstalin"
