In a disturbing incident in Bengaluru, three men were heckled and assaulted while travelling in a car after raising "Jai Shri Ram" slogans.
The incident, which occurred in the Chikkabettahalli area, was captured on video and shared widely on social media platforms.
According to reports, the men were chanting "Jai Shri Ram" slogans on the occasion of Ram Navami when they were intercepted by two bike-borne individuals.
The bikers objected to the slogans and demanded that the men chant "Allah Hu Akbar" instead.
A verbal altercation ensued, escalating into a physical confrontation as the bikers, along with some locals, assaulted the occupants of the car.
One of the victims sustained head injuries from a stick, while another suffered a nose injury during the attack.
The police said that the three of the five accused involved in the incident have been arrested. "We will arrest the remaining two soon," said BM Laxmi Prasad, DCP Northeast, Bengaluru City.
A case has been registered at the Vidhyaranyapura Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to hurting religious sentiments and rioting.
Authorities have arrested three of the five accused involved in the incident, identified as Farman and Sameer, while the remaining three are reportedly minors.
