Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), offered his backing to the state's newly-elected Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, on Tuesday (12 December).

In his conversation with the press, Chouhan expressed his confidence that Mohan Yadav's leadership will ensure the BJP government's successful completion of current projects in the state. He firmly believes that Madhya Pradesh will reach unprecedented levels of progress and development under this regime. Chouhan also pledged his ongoing support for Yadav.

"Upon my departure, I take solace in the fact that the BJP has regained control with an absolute majority in 2023. My heart brims with joy and contentment. The formation of this government was made possible through the tireless efforts of countless workers, the esteemed Prime Minister's blessings and popularity, and the implementation of both central and state schemes, with significant contribution from Ladli Behna. I am deeply gratified," Chouhan concluded.

In a video shared by Chouhan's office, the veteran BJP leader was seen interacting with his female supporters from the state. These women conveyed their disappointment over his ousting as the CM. In response, Chouhan assured them of his continued support.

Mohan Yadav, a 58-year-old leader of the Other Backward Class (OBC) and thrice-elected MLA from Ujjain South, was chosen as the CM of Madhya Pradesh. His election followed the BJP's overwhelming win in the state's Assembly elections, which took place on 17 November.
