Trump Mispronounced Sachin As ‘Soo-chin’ At Motera Stadium. Here’s How The ICC Responded To It 

US President Donald Trump was on Monday trolled by International Cricket Council (ICC) after he pronounced cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s name incorrectly during his speech, modifying the cricketer's name to ‘Soo-chin’.

“This is the country, where your people cheer on some of the world''s greatest cricket players such from Soochin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli,” Trump said, sending social media into a tizzy.

The ICC, the governing body of the sport in the world, took to Twitter to post a video ‘changing’ Sachin's name to ‘Soochin Tendulkar’ on their website, captioning the tongue-in-cheek post ‘Sach- Such- Satch- Sutch- Sooch- Anyone know?’

In the 15-second video clip, ICC is seen changing Sachin Tendulkar's name in the personal information section to Soo-chin and then saving the changes.

Tendulkar completed 20 years in cricket on 16 November 2009 at Motera, the stadium in Ahmedabad where Trump mispronounced his name.

He became the first Indian to complete 18,000 runs in One Day cricket at Motera in a match against Australia during the 2011 world cup.

According to India Today, Trump also mispronounced Virat Kohli as ‘Virot Kolee’.

The US President had wrongly pronounced many other names, including that of Swami Vivekananda — he called the monk “Swami Vivekamanan”.

“As the great religious teacher Swami Vivekananda once said, ‘the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see God in him, that moment I am free,” Trump said in his speech at the Sardar Patel Stadium.

He also mispronounced Vedas — ancient Hindu religious texts — as “Vestas”.

According to BBC India, he also mispronounced “Chaiwallah” (tea seller) as “Cheewallah” and the movie “Sholay” as “Shojay”.

Twitter users hilariously trolled the US President for mispronouncing these names. The crowd at the Sardar Patel Stadium, however, burst into claps after hearing Trump.
