In a twist in a case of an inter-faith "love marriage" in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a woman who had eloped with a Muslim man has now said that she wants to 'return to her parents'.
Her statement was recorded on Tuesday. She has said that she had eloped with Bilal, but now wants to return to her parents and wants to stay with them.
She had earlier shared a video on social media, saying that she had eloped with Bilal as per her own wishes.
After her statement at the local court, the police were directed to take action accordingly.
This report in Dainik Jagran says that she was taken out of the local court premises from a particular gate after recording her statement. Her family members were present at the court and remained there until the last moment.
The accused had made her elope with him on 17 October.
Security arrangements were made in the court premises.
The girl comes from the Quila thana area. She had posted a video on social media saying that she has married a man named Bilal.
Reportedly, after she circulated her video on social media, there were protests by Hindu organisations.
She then made an appeal to the local authorities to release the parents of Bilal and was appealing to her family members to withdraw the case against Bilal's parents in the video.
