"Two Versions": Arvind Kejriwal Breaks Silence Over Swati Maliwal Assault Case, Says He Wasn't There

Releasing himself from the shadows over the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated that he was not there as per a report by Hindustan Times.

In his first public comments on the Swati Maliwal assault controversy, Kejriwal stated that he wanted justice and a thorough investigation into the incident, since there are two versions of it.

When Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal went to see Kejriwal on 13 May, she was allegedly kicked and slapped inside the CM's residence by his aide Bibhav Kumar. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supported Bibhav and referred to Swati Maliwal as a BJP stooge while Bibhav was being arrested.

The party's stance on the matter has been presented by Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi minister Atishi, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, while Kejriwal remained silent about the incident involving one of the AAP's founding members.

In an interview with PTI on Wednesday (22 May), Kejriwal stated that while the case is still pending and that his remarks may have an impact on it, he still anticipates a thorough probe.

Kejriwal stated, "But I expect there will be a fair investigation. Justice should be served. There are two versions of the event. Police should investigate both versions fairly and justice should be done."

Bibhav Kumar is being held by the police for five days in relation to this case. His phone locations were tracked as he was being transported to Mumbai. Authorities think that's where Bibhav formatted his phone.

Swati maliwal, strongly criticised Delhi CM's remarks and stated on X, "After unleashing the entire army of leaders and volunteers at me, calling me a BJP agent, assassinating my character, leaking edited videos, victim shaming me, roaming around with the accused, letting him re-enter the crime scene and tamper evidences and protesting in favour of the accused, the Chief Minister, in whose drawing room I was beaten up, has finally said that he wants free and fair investigation in the matter."

At the gathering on Wednesday, Maliwal launched yet another serious accusation, saying that everyone had been under duress to reveal Maliwal's private images.

Maliwal on a post on X stated, "Yesterday I got a call from a big leader of the party. They told me how there is a lot of pressure on everyone, they have to say bad things against Swati, they have to break her by leaking her personal photos. It is being said that anyone who supports her will be expelled from the party."

She added, "Someone has got the duty of doing press conference and someone has got the duty of tweeting. It is someone's duty to call the volunteers sitting in America and get something out against me."
