US President Joe Biden is set to make a solidarity visit to Israel this Wednesday (18 October), following recent attacks by Palestinian terror outfit Hamas.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the announcement after an extensive meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the defense ministry.

This marks Blinken's second visit since the 7 October attacks, initiated by Hamas.

During the visit, Biden aims to reaffirm the United States' unwavering support for Israel and its commitment to the nation's security.

Furthermore, Blinken revealed that the United States and Israel have agreed to collaborate on devising a plan for aid to Gaza, a region suffering from poverty and blockade.

The objective is to facilitate foreign assistance into Gaza, particularly as Israel prepares for a potential ground offensive against the Hamas-controlled area.

Biden is seeking to understand Israel's strategy to defend its population, while minimising civilian casualties and enabling humanitarian aid to reach Gazan civilians without benefiting Hamas.

In line with this, efforts are being made to create designated areas that can keep civilians safe from harm during the ongoing situation.
