Adityanath's meeting with Modi and Nadda has happened amid political developments in Uttar Pradesh. Assembly elections will be held in the state next year. BJP is reaching out to allies in the state.

In a recent development, former Congress leader Jitin Prasada has joined the BJP. Prasada's entry at this juncture is being looked at as a positive for BJP's expected outreach to the Brahmins in the state.

Last month, Bharatiya Janata Party MLC and former Gujarat Cadre IAS Arvind Kumar Sharma met UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath amid rumours of cabinet reshuffle. Sharma has previously worked closely with Modi in Gujarat and in Delhi.
