'You Can't Become Adani Or Ambani': Rahul Gandhi Asserts Caste Inequality In Indian Society In US Address

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reiterated his demand for a caste census and highlighted the inequality in Indian society while talking to students at the prestigious Georgetown University in the US.

When asked how long the reservations would continue in India, Gandhi asserted that they can be scrapped only when India is a fair place and India is not a fair place now.

He explained that the tribals get only 10 paise out of 100 rupees; Dalits get 5 rupees out of 100 rupees, and OBCs get a similar number and urged to treat the 'symptom.'

"The fact of the matter is that they are not getting participation. The problem is that 90 per cent of India is not able to play," the Congress MP said.

Gandhi emphasised that reservation is a tool to deal with this inequality. He said that general caste people should not complaint about being at a disadvantage due to the reservation policy.

"I don't think any of you are ever going to become Adani or Ambani. There's a reason for that. You can't. Because those doors are closed," he said urging the general caste people to open those doors.

The Congress MP denied commenting on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Reiterating attacks on Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani, he said that two businesspeople should not run every single business in India.
