Arikomban being moved out of Chinnakanal
The rogue elephant Arikomban which was recently translocated to the Periyar Tiger Reserve near Thekkady in Kerala, from Chinnakanal near Munnar, is now keeping residents and forest department officials in Tamil Nadu on their toes.
The elephant recently entered Megamalai area in the Theni district. Residents of the area are afraid that it may cause destruction similar to what it had been doing in Chinnakanal.
It reached close to a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus recently but did not try to attack the vehicle.
A 30-member team is keeping a tab on the movements of the elephant with the help of the Kerala Forest Department, which is sharing its location based on signals from the radio collar that was attached to it before it was relocated from Chinnakanal.
According to officials from the Kerala Forest Department, it is now moving back towards the Periyar Tiger Reserve.
Meanwhile, Badusha Cinemas and Pen and Paper Creations have announced that they are joining hands to make a film on the life of Arikomban.
