TIME interviewed Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun exclusively in light of an alleged assassination plot by India to kill the Khalistani terrorist.

Showing sympathy for Pannun, TIME mentioned how his childhood prompted him to 'do “human rights advocacy” on behalf of Sikh victims and survivors', as per Pannun.

While the US-based magazine avoided questioning Pannun about the death threats issued to Indians (Hindus) abroad, it questioned him on a video where "he warned Sikhs not to fly on Air India because it would be life-threatening".

However, Pannun downplayed this threat and said, "I was saying "boycott” Air India, but the whole Indian narrative shifted to "bomb” Air India. Somebody has to be a zombie to not differentiate between boycotting and bombing."

Earlier, Pannun had also asked Hindus in Canada to leave and go to India. Over Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing, he had threatened an Indian diplomat of "sweet poetic justice".

This interview was called out on social media, where a netizen said, "There should be repercussions for those who think that they can indulge in this denialism and still travel seamlessly to India."

Another person writing on foreign affairs said, "Instead of a strong follow up question asking him to clarify his comments, the interviewer spends most of their time allowing Pannun to indulge his persecution complex."

Aditya Raj Kaul said, "Time Magazine gives a platform to a designated Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Shameful. Disgusting. Outrageous. Is Time Magazine openly cheering for terrorism, violence and organised crime?"
