PM Narendra Modi during Jaipur road show
Addressing a public rally in Bhilwara for Rajasthan elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the Gandhi family of Congress party by mentioning Rajesh Pilot.
He said, "You people know Congress' history. If anyone tells truth in Congress and if this truth bothers the family (Gandhi family), then assume that his/her politics has gone down the ditch."
The PM added, "Rajesh Pilot challenged the Congress just once, for its own good. He failed but this family is such that it not only punished Rajesh ji, but is also punishing his son."
Mentioning former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot, Modi said, "Rajesh Pilot is no more but his frustration is being vented out on his son."
Notably, Rajesh Pilot had supported rebel Jitendra Prasad when the latter contested the elections against Sonia Gandhi for the Congress presidency in November 2000.
The PM's statements aim at exploiting the rift within Sachin Pilot and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot which was widened by the 2020 rebellion, however, has come to the truce for now in light of the elections.
