Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan welcoming Amit Shah (26 July 2023)
Union Home Minister Amit Shah continues to monitor Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Madhya Pradesh election preparations as a meeting was held at his residence in New Delhi on Sunday (6 August).
The meeting was attended by MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, party's state election in-charge Bhupender Yadav and co-in-charge Ashiwni Vasihnaw, election committee convener Narendra Singh Tomar, state party president VD Sharma, and Hitanand Sharma.
During the 4-hour-long late-night meeting, the CM and the state president presented a report to Shah outlining the party's efforts in the election-bound state and also briefed him about their plans for the coming months.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to the state and how to take welfare schemes by the Centre and State to the booth level.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit Sagar on 12 August and participate in various programs. He will perform the groundbreaking ceremony (bhoomi pujan) of the Sawai Bhoj Shri Ravidas Memorial site in the afternoon.
Shah is also expected to visit Jabalpur where he will hold a meeting with leaders and officials to discuss the upcoming elections. After the Mahakaushal tour, he will visit Gwalior, where he will address a large public gathering.
Home Minister had visited Malwa and Nimar regions earlier. It is being said that after motivating the BJP leaders, officials, and workers in Malwa and Nimar, he is now going to focus entirely on Mahakaushal and Gwalior-Chambal regions.
The Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled to be held later this year. The ruling BJP is optimistic about retaining power, while the Opposition Congress has expressed confidence in overthrowing the current ruling dispensation.
