K Annamalai, former IPS officer and state president BJP Tamil Nadu
In a speech made in Sri Lanka’s Jaffna, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu state president K Annamalai said that culture and epics, especially the Ramayana are the bridge between India and Sri Lanka.
Jaffna is the headquarters of the Tamil-majority Northern Province.
Further, he said that he had only recently learnt that years back, the first abhishekam of the morning at the Rameswaram temple was done using cow’s milk from Neduntheevu in Sri Lanka.
Neduntheevu is an island in the Jaffna peninsula and today it is known as Delft Island. This name was given by Dutch colonisers.
