In his address bidding goodbye to the old Parliament building, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed that the old Parliament building should be called ‘Samvidhan Sadan.’
He said, "It is auspicious that we are moving to the new parliament on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. It is my suggestion that the honour of the old parliament building should not decrease."
He ended his address by saluting the "holy land" of the old parliament building and the contributions of great leaders who nurtured India's parliamentary democracy.
Prior to Modi, Leaders of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury respectively and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi spoke at the Central Hall of Parliament's old building on Tuesday (19 September).
