The National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached a house in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday (13 September) as it was being used by an active member of the banned terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda/Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
The accused, Minhaj Ahmed was using the property for various terror-related unlawful activities, including fabrication of IEDs and petrol bombs, to carry out terrorist attacks in the state.
Ahmed was working closely with a terrorist named Musa, who was affiliated with a terrorist organisation linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba. Musa was killed in an encounter on 16 March 2022.
The investigation agency said in its press release that the accused had procured certain raw materials and components to fabricate an IED in a pressure cooker, which was recovered from the property attached.
NIA found in its investigation that the accused had also performed controlled explosion (testing) on the roof of the said house by preparing a sample IED using materials in small quantities.
Ahmed had also recorded a video while fabricating the IED and petrol bomb and sent them to Musa. He had also procured a pistol and live ammunition.
