The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for its 'Pasmanda Sneh Yatra,' commencing on Thursday (27 July), to tackle misconceptions and rumors surrounding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

The party plans to engage with Muslim-dominated areas, emphasizing the need to dispel false narratives propagated by the opposition.

With a focus on 32 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, including Saharanpur, Kairana, and Rampur, where a significant Muslim population resides, the campaign aims to address concerns related to UCC and counteract misinformation.

Jamal Siddiqui, the national president of BJP minority Morcha, highlighted the opposition's alleged attempts to weaken the Muslim community through unfounded narratives.

The campaign, which coincides with the eighth death anniversary of former President APJ Abdul Kalam, will be flagged off by BJP national president JP Nadda from the party headquarters in Delhi.

During the campaign, there will be a four-day halt from 28 to 31 July, in observance of Muharram, before resuming on 1 August. The yatra's route will include Ghaziabad, Dadri in GB Nagar, and Bulandshahr, where an event featuring Sufi songs is planned.

Senior party leaders, including BJP MPs from respective districts, will actively participate in the campaign to bridge the gap between the socio-economically backward Muslims and the party.

The BJP aims to highlight the support provided to Pasmanda Muslims under the current Narendra Modi government, benefiting from various welfare schemes initiated by the BJP administration.

The party intends to interact with members of the Muslim community to address their concerns and gauge their future aspirations. Additionally, pamphlets and documents highlighting government initiatives in favor of minorities will be distributed during the yatra.

While the BJP endeavors to connect with Pasmanda Muslims, the Samajwadi Party has expressed concerns about the BJP's motives in wooing this section of the community.
