Weekend Issue Is Out!

Dear Reader,

This weekend edition features Banuchandar Nagarajan's post-poll journey across Haryana, Rajasthan, and Punjab. After his 14-day Hridayapath journey during the general elections, he has hit the road again.

His goal is to uncover the post-poll mood and understand the pressing issues from off-beat places avoiding big cities and tourist places.

The ground sentiment often gets overlooked by the loud sentiment, no matter how consequential the former and how marginal the latter might be. That is the reason, Banuchandar wants to steer clear of the places that hog the most limelight in news media.

He says that news from Haryana and Punjab is dominated by the places that mostly fall to the east — Gurgaon, Panipat, Sonipat, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Chandigarh and Amritsar. (Loud sentiment?)

However, electoral shocks came from elsewhere — Western Haryana (Hisar, Sirsa, among others) and Western Punjab like Faridkot, Khadoor Sahib, and others. (Ground sentiment?)

In a way, 'Post-Poll Journeys' is akin to our weekend magazines — steers clear of the clutter and brings you the most relevant stories.

In the four dispatches that Banuchandar has sent from this route, the first one covers Haryana, the second one covers Haryana and Northwest Rajasthan, and last two feature stories from Punjab.

  • #1: With Haryana's Assembly Elections on the horizon, the first dispatch tries to understand what's the mood like in Haryana. If there were regrets and any remaining resentments? What do people make of Nayab Saini, the new Chief Minister?

  • #2: Beyond the usual clamour for 'bijli-sadak-pani', a new narrative of aspiration is unfolding in Haryana and Rajasthan. As a result, unemployment and exodus are major issues here.

  • #3: This one focuses on the paradox of Punjab. On one hand, you have brimming patriotism, but you also have a simmering but parallel world of Khalistan. More than just arguments, Punjab needs healing a touch.

  • #4: Continuing in Punjab, where the narrator discovers how addressing immigration, drug abuse, and proselytisation is BJP's path to winning hearts in Punjab.

  • Beyond the cover stories from Post-Poll Journeys, we have a lot more covered for you in our weekend issue.

    - BJP's Suvendu Adhikari Said ‘Jo Hamare Saath, Hum Unke Saath’. So What’s Wrong With That?

    - Toe The Line, Bypoll Prep, Or...? What UP Deputy CM Maurya's Meet With The BJP Chief Might Mean?
