Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (23 August) congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation for successfully landing the Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar surface of the Moon.

Addressing the gathering at the ISRO mission control centre via video-conferencing after the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3, PM Modi said that it was "the dawn of a new era".

"Every Indian is celebrating today. Every home is celebrating. I am also connected to the people of my country at this proud moment. It is the dawn of a new era," PM Modi said, reports India Today.

“I may be in South Africa but my heart has always been with Chandrayaan mission”, said PM Modi, who is currently on a three-day official visit to South Africa to attend the 15th BRICS summit.

“The successful Moon mission is not India’s alone. This is a year in which the world is witnessing India’s G20 presidency. Our approach of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ is resonating across the globe,” PM Modi said in his speech.

He also highlighted that India will be working on future missions to explore the Sun and other planets of the solar system.
