BSP Lok Sabha MP Danish Ali has been suspended from his party due to "anti-party activity".

The party has stated that despite repeated warnings against statements or actions that go against the party's policies, ideology, and discipline, Ali continued to act in opposition.

A suspended MP is still obligated to follow the party whip.

"You were warned many times against statements or actions against the policies, ideology and discipline of the party. But, despite that you have continuously been acting against the party," the BSP said in a statement.

Recently, Ali had become a target of an unsavoury exchange on the floor of the House when BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri had used communal slurs against him.

After the incident, Ali also met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Ali's suspension from BSP comes a day after Moitra was expelled from the party.

Following Moitra's expulsion, Ali also staged a solitary protest outside Parliament on Friday, advocating for justice for Trinamool Congress leader.

The BSP today accused Ali, a former JD(S) leader, of going against the party line: "You were given the ticket on Deve Gowda's insistence who had assured that you will always follow the party line. Only after this assurance you were given the BSP memebership. But you forgot the assurances given by you and indulged in anti-party activities."

Ali was also the part of the four-members of the ethics committee that opposed the panel's report recommending expulsion of TMC MP Mahua Moitra in the 'cash for query' allegations.

Beginning his political career with Janata Dal (Secular), Danish Ali joined the BSP in 2019, with the approval of JD(S) leader and ex-Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

Within six days, his candidacy for the 2019 general elections was declared from the Amroha constituency. He secured victory over Kanwar Singh Tanwar from the BJP, winning the seat by a margin of around 63,000 votes.
