Telangana's Former Deputy Chief Minister Thatikonda Rajaiah. (X)
In a significant setback for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) following its crushing defeat in the Telangana Assembly Elections-2023, former deputy chief minister Thatikonda Rajaiah has announced his resignation from the party just before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Rajaiah, who had hoped to secure the Warangal Lok Sabha seat, cited the party leadership's lack of responsiveness as the reason for his decision, according to a report from The Hindu.
This move presents a critical challenge for the BRS as it gears up for the impending Lok Sabha elections and the subsequent selection of candidates for Member of Parliament (MP) seats.
The party chose not to field him, instead opting for senior leader and former deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari, who emerged victorious.
There are speculations that Rajaiah might be considering joining the Congress party, with potential aspirations for the Warangal MP seat.
According to the same report, he has already met with Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, expressing his desire to align with the ruling Congress party.
