Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (27 July) launched a scathing attack on Congress and its allies, saying that the joint Opposition alliance has changed its name from 'UPA' to I.N.D.I.A to avoid being called out for their past sins.

PM Modi said that the Congress and its allied parties have adopted a new tactic now, and this tactic is - changing the name.

"To distance themselves from the sins of the previous UPA government, they have opted to rechristen their party as I.N.D.I.A.," PM Modi said.

Further, in a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi said, "If they cared about INDIA, would they go abroad and ask foreigners to interfere in India".

Earlier on Tuesday too, PM Modi had attacked the Opposition alliance over their name, reportedly saying that naming their bloc, I.N.D.I.A, was just an attempt to mislead people.
