Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday (8 August) suspended Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien from the Upper House of the Parliament for the remainder of the Monsoon session.
He was suspended for “unruly behaviour and disregarding the directions of the Chair”.
The Leader of the House and Union Minister Piyush Goyal thereafter moved a motion for O'Brien's suspension “for continuously disturbing the proceedings of the House, disobeying the Chair and continuously creating the disturbance in the House”.
Following the motion moved by Goyal, the Rajya Sabha chairman directed Derek O'Brien to leave the House, adding that he has been suspended for the rest of the session, which ends on 11 August.
