Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the committee set up by the state government to draft the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will submit its report by 30 June.

During an event in Haridwar, the Uttarakhand CM said that state's draft UCC may act as a mode for others, reports Times of India.

Dhami was speaking at the concluding session of the two-day meet of VHP's central advisory committee at Haridwar on Friday. The seers attending the event hailed Dhami as saviour of the religion and a 'karmayogi'.

Implementation of a Uniform Civil Code was one of the major poll promises made by the BJP in run-up to the Uttarakhand assembly elections in 2022, if voted back to power in the state.

After the party won the elections, CM Dhami formed the five-member committee headed by former Supreme Court judge justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, days after taking oath in May last year.

Earlier this month, CM Dhami said that the panel had completed 90 per cent of work related to drafting of the code.
