Annamalai (L), D Jayakumar (R)
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) organising secretary D Jayakumar today (18 September) said that the AIADMK was not in an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the issue of alliance would be decided only at the time of elections.
When asked if it was the party's stand, he said, "Have I ever spoken to you in that capacity? I only talk what the party decides."
His statement comes days after BJP state president K Annamalai's remarks about former chief minister CN Annadurai during a protest demanding the resignation of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HRCE) minister P Sekar Babu and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami's meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda.
Regarding the incident, Jayakumar said that such an incident of Muthuramalingam Thevar condemning Annadurai had not occurred and he doesn't know where did Annamalai read about it.
The AIADMK had earlier passed a resolution condemning Annamalai's remarks in an interview, which were taken to be a reference to former chief minister and party supremo J Jayalalithaa.
