The combined Index of eight core Industries increased by 12.7 per cent in June 2022 as compared to the Index of June 2021, an official release said on Friday (29 July).
The production of Coal, Cement, Electricity, Refinery Products, Fertilizers, Steel, and Natural Gas industries increased in June 2022 over the corresponding period of last year, the Commerce Ministry said in a release.
The index measures combined and individual performance of production in selected eight core industries - Coal, Crude Oil, Natural Gas, Refinery Products, Fertilizers, Steel, Cement and Electricity.
The eight core industries comprise 40.27 per cent of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP).
India's coal production increased by 31.1 per cent in June 2022 over the same month last year while crude Oil production declined by 1.7 per cent in June 2022 over June 2021.
Meanwhile, natural Gas production increased by 1.2 per cent in June, 2022 over June, 2021.
Petroleum refinery production increased by 15.1 per cent in June, 2022 over the same month last year while fertilisers production rose by 8.2 per cent.
During the month, Steel production increased by 3.3 per cent while cement production jumped up by 19.4 per cent.
The electricity generation in the month rose by 15.5 per cent as compared to the same month last year.
