NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd and the Tripura government have joined forces to develop large-scale renewable energy projects in the state.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NTPC's renewable energy arm and Tripura government on Monday (16 January) for development of floating and ground mounted based renewable energy projects in the state.
The MoU was signed by Rajiv Gupta, Chief General Manager of NTPC REL, and Mahananda Debbarma, Director General and CEO of Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency.
TREDA is the nodal agency for implementing renewable energy projects in Tripura.
The signing was attended by high-ranking officials from both the state government and NTPC, including the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, as well as the state's Secretary of Power.
In a statement, NTPC said that the MoU embarks upon the journey towards "development of large sized renewable energy projects" in Tripura and will help the state government in "meeting its clean energy commitments and obligations".
