Police are working with Hanuman Jayanti organisers to regulate their celebration in Jahangirpuri, northwest Delhi, which was affected by communal violence during last year's festival.
The organisers have requested and received permission for a Hanuman Jayanti procession in the regulated area.
Police did a flag march in Jahangirpuri on Tuesday (4 April). Hanuman Jayanti celebration will take place on Thursday (6 April).
All states were asked by the Home Ministry to maintain law and order, and monitor disturbances to peace and harmony during Hanuman Jayanti.
The Ministry advised states and Union territories to sensitise law enforcement after recent communal violence.
The Home Minister's Office tweeted that an advisory has been given to all states for Hanuman Jayanti preparations. According to the advisory, the governments are urged to uphold law and order, peacefully celebrate the festival, and keep an eye on any acts that may disrupt communal harmony.
Clashes between two communities in Jahangirpuri during a Hanuman Jayanti procession on 16 April 2022 left eight police personnel and a resident injured, with vehicles being torched and incidences of stone-pelting and arson reported.
