The design for Lata Mangeshkar Smriti Chowk, being built in the memory of the late legendary singer in Ayodhya, has been approved by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and will come up in a record time of one month.

As tweeted by Ayodhya Development Authority Vice Chairman Vishal Singh, the Naya Ghat intersection that is being turned into a memorial as directed by CM Yogi Adityanath will be completed by the Ayodhya Development authority within one month. ‘Bhajans of Shri Ram sung by Lata Mangeshkar ji will be played at the installation’, he added.

As per official sources, a competition had been organised seeking design ideas for the memorial in June. Over two lakh students had participated in this global design contest, with over 150 national and international institutions joining hands. Of the 56 final submissions, five had been chosen for the CM’s perusal, and the final design is said to have a large installation of a Veena symbolic of the Goddess Saraswati.

The junction development works are being undertaken with the intention of ‘reflecting the vibrant cultural heritage of Ayodhya‘ and the road design and underground parking facilities are being designed keeping in mind the pedestrian movement in the area, said sources.

As per Ayodhya Development Authority, the central installation will be created by renowned sculptor Padma Bhushan Ramji Sutar. The announcement for a memorial junction had been made by CM Adityanath upon the demise of Lata Mangeshkar in February this year.
