Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General Manoj Pande are scheduled to visit Rajouri today (6 May) to assess the security situation in the Jammu region.
This comes after an encounter with terrorists in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of five soldiers.
A spokesperson for the army stated that an operation was initiated to eliminate the terrorists responsible for the recent attack on an army truck, which resulted in the death of five soldiers.
The operation took place in the Kesri Hill area of the Rajouri district, where the army received credible intelligence about the presence of terrorists entrenched in a cave.
During the operation, the terrorists detonated explosives in retaliation, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers on the spot. The four injured soldiers were evacuated to Command Hospital in Udhampur, where three of them succumbed to their injuries.
The army claims that the group of terrorists involved in the ambush on an army truck on April 20 at Bhata Dhurian in Poonch district is responsible for this attack as well. The terrorists not only killed five soldiers in the attack but also fled with their weapons.
