The Indian Air Force (IAF) has undertaken a project to develop a jammer pod for the indigenous LCA Mark (Mk) 1A fighter aircraft, according to officials, as reported by news agency ANI.

They have assigned the task of indigenising various equipment needed for their aircraft, transport vehicles, and weapon systems to the IAF's Base Repair Depots in an effort to reduce imports.

The LCA Mk1A represents an improved version of the domestically developed LCA MK1, featuring added capabilities and enhancements, including the incorporation of a self protection jammer.

Meanwhile, Colonel Vikram, Vice President of Solar Group Economic Explosives Limited, highlighted that the multimode hand grenade is the first privately manufactured product to be handed over to the Indian Army, apart from the products from ordinance factories.

"We have already manufactured a quantity of 10 lakh and handed it over to the Indian Army successfully. This is a very safe prototype and advanced prototype of a hand grenade. It has added safety features as well, and its efficacies are much more than the erstwhile HE 36 hand grenade," Colonel Vikram said.

The Indian Army, he added, has given a positive response to the product, and the company anticipates receiving another order in the near future.
